Clinical Chemistry and Clinical Toxicology

Clinical chemistry and toxicology is a discipline that closely integrates chemistry, toxicology, and clinical medicine, focusing on the study of the effects of various chemicals and poisons on the human body. Based on the characteristics of this discipline, our company offers a flexible and efficient portfolio of in vitro diagnostic (IVD) products and advanced diagnostic equipment to fulfill the diagnostic needs of patients in the field of clinical chemistry and clinical toxicology.

Accurate Diagnosis in Clinical Chemistry and Toxicology

Clinical chemistry and clinical toxicology are two disciplines that closely integrate chemistry, toxicology, and clinical medicine. Clinical chemistry focuses on the chemical constituents of body fluids and their physiologic and pathologic changes and uses in vitro testing to support disease diagnosis and treatment. Examples include monitoring and managing diabetes by testing glucose levels in the blood to help adjust insulin therapy, assessing kidney function, and early detection of kidney disease by measuring blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine levels.

Clinical toxicology studies the effects of chemicals and poisons on the human body, especially in the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic poisoning. For example, in clinical toxicology, the level of 25(OH)D in human blood can be measured to determine the amount of vitamin D in the body, thus helping to formulate an appropriate treatment plan for people suffering from vitamin D poisoning.

IVD Applications of Clinical Chemistry and Clinical Toxicology

Clinical chemistry focuses on analyzing the chemical constituents of body fluids to assess the physiological status of patients, diagnose diseases, and monitor the effectiveness of treatments. Clinical toxicology can be used to detect drugs and poisons in the body to support drug abuse monitoring and toxicological poisoning analysis.

  • Blood and Urine Analysis: By analyzing the chemical composition of the patient's blood and urine, testing liver function, electrolyte balance, and metabolic disorders to assist in the diagnosis of various diseases.
  • Enzyme and Metabolite Testing: Through testing enzyme levels and metabolite concentrations in the blood, such as glucose, cholesterol, urea nitrogen, etc., to identify metabolic disorders and endocrine diseases.
  • Toxins and Drugs Monitoring: Monitor the use of therapeutic drugs by identifying and quantifying toxic substances and drugs in the blood to avoid overdose and poisoning.
  • Infectious Disease Detection: Detection of pathogen antigens or antibodies through chemical labeling and immunoassay techniques to diagnose bacterial, viral, and fungal infections.
